How to choose the perfect black?

Advices

Full of class, nobility and contrast, black has long been a staple of interior decoration! We often talk about a single black when in reality, there are many that are for the most part only shades of very dark colors, allowing a whole game with colors and materials. It is also available in warm, cold and neutral colours:

- Warm blacks contain a small amount of warm colour: yellow, red, pink, beige, etc.
Black Bean Soup 2130-10, Onyx 2133-10, Black Tar 2126-10, etc.

- Cold blacks contain a small amount of cold colour: blue, green, grey, etc.

Midnight Dream 2129-10, Black Satin 2131-10, Universal Black 2118-10, etc.

- Neutral Black: HC-190 Black

The choice of a matte, or velvety finish is obvious to let your black express all its depth, however in rare cases more brilliant finishes can be considered by touches or accent details.

The black will allow you to highlight every element of decoration you want to highlight, from paintings, woodwork to furniture pieces. It must always be present in smaller quantities, in order not to reduce the space, or the brightness, some black decoration details can punctuate the space to add to the coherence of the whole.

It is very important to take into account that colors vary according to their exposure to light (North, South, East, West), that’s why the use of paint samples is a real plus in order to perceive the different shades of the shades you have selected, throughout the day under artificial and natural light. We recommend the use of our Benjamin Moore© smart paint samples (236 ml).
